Introduction of Ethylene Bis-Stearamide (EBS) and Alkanolamides at Palmamide, Rawang, Malaysia.

Greenfield expansion at Zhangjiagang, China, manufacturer of Fatty Acids, Glycerine, Soap Noodles and Esters.

Acquisition of Davos Life Science, manufacturer of nutraceutical and cosmeceutical products.

Introduction of Fatty Alcohols and Methyl Esters at KL-Kepong Oleomas, West Port, Klang, Malaysia.

Acquisition of Dr. W. Kolb Holding at Switzerland and the Netherland. Founded in 1964, Kolb is a large independent alkoxylator and a significant manufacturer and distributor of Nonionic Surfactants and Esters.

Acquisition of Uniqema Malaysia – renamed Palm-Oleo (Klang), manufacturer of Fatty Acids, Glycerine, Esters and Soap Noodles.

New oleo-based Sulphonated Methyl Esters (‘SME’) introduced at KL-Kepong Oleomas as an environment-friendly surfactant.
Acquisition of Zoop’s biodiesel plant at Shah Alam, Malaysia (renamed KLK Bioenergy).

Expansion of KLK OLEO’s footprint in Europe through the acquisition of Croda Emmerich, Germany (renamed KLK Emmerich), a company founded in 1911 by Unilever.

Construction of KLK Dumai facility in Indonesia, further added to the Group’s overall Fatty Acids and Glycerine production capability.

Acquisition of TensaChem (renamed KLK Tensachem), manufacturer of sulph(on)ates in Belgium to complement the downstream business of European operations. Tensachem is a company founded in 1968 by Albright & Wilson.

Acquisition of Emery’s oleochemical site at Düsseldorf to complement the Group’s existing Fatty Acids and Glycerine business. It is a company founded in 1910 by Henkel.

From a basic oleo producer with 50 employees 25 years ago to more than 3,000 employees today, KLK OLEO has diversified into downstream derivatives and specialty chemicals, supplying to more than 123 countries around the world.
